Guidelines

We
have several chat rooms that are available. They are:
Healing-Journey
Chats:
#healing:
A safe chat for healing and general discussions. Limited
popups and sounds.
#thepark:
A place for everybody to go and play with popups, sounds
or just play in our virtual park.
By
accessing Healing Journey Chats , you agree to abide
by the following guidelines:
1.
Healing Journey Chat is for use by adults age 18 or
over. No exceptions. If you are under age 18, click
here now to exit and access resources appropriate
for your age.
2.
The chat room is not to be used for file sharing
of any kind. This includes, but is not limited to, program
files, music files, or any material that is copyrighted
and/or registered. Those who violate this guideline
will lose all chat privileges.
3.
Treat yourself and others with respect. Take responsibility
for your own self-care and safety.
- If
you feel triggered by discussion in chat, feel free
to take some time out and return later.
- The
use of mild profanity is tolerated in the Healing-Journey
Chats (#healing), but it cannot be used to attack
or harm another person.
- The
use of any profanity is prohibited in #thepark.
- Discussion
of individuals who are not in the chat room is prohibited.
- Harrassment
or bashing has no place in any of the chat rooms.
4.
Please make an effort to *give* as well as to *receive*
support.
5.
We do not promote the use of spoilers (the use of astericks
in place of letters (ie. a*use instead of abuse). The
use of spoilers draws unnecessary attention to words
and makes the conversation difficult to follow.
6.
Our chat rooms are for general peer support. Do not
use chat to discuss details about abuse which are graphic
or explicit. Religious discussions should take place
in the appropriate forums at the TWHJ
site, not in the chat room. If you have questions about
what is on-topic for the main room, just ask.
7.
Please be responsive to channel operators if a request
is made of you. Channel operators run the chat rooms.
- Honor
requests made of you by a channel op, even if you
disagree. You can always email
the administrator if you have concerns.
- Keep
in mind that channel operators are people whose healing
is also in progress.
- Channel
operators do not function as therapists in the chat
room
- The
chat rooms are for general peer support. All chatters
are expected to participate in the chat room and not
just in private messages.
8.
In Healing-Journey chat (#healing) ... only actions
relevant to the conversation are to be used in the main
room. Sounds, one line popups, and scripts should be
used in good taste. Please dont over use
these, and defer to channel ops if they ask you to stop
using them.
9.
No solitations or advertisiments are permitted in the
chat rooms, including any email addresses or URL's.
10.
Unauthorized rooms are not allowed on the server. If
you are on the Healing Journey server, you must be on
an approved channel. Approved channels are #healing,
and #thepark.
11.
Do not enter the chat rooms if you are under the influence
of illegal drugs or alcohol.
12.
The chatrooms or forums are not to be used for
research.
13.
Inappropriate, offensive behavior or refusal to follow
the guidelines in the chat rooms can be cause to be
permanently banned from the server. This is not an action
the channel operators take lightly, but we will take
whatever measures we feel necessary to keep the rooms
as safe as possible.
14.
DISCUSSION OF CRISIS SITUATIONS IS NOT ALLOWED IN
CHAT. A crisis is any threat of immediate or impending
harm to oneself or others. If you are in a crisis, leave
chat and do one of the following:
- Call
your therapist or local mental health crisis service
- Dial
911 or a hotline
- Go
to a hospital emergency room for help
15. Always use caution before meeting someone in person
that you have first met in chat. If you do decide to
meet someone in person, use common sense and safety
precautions. At minimum, meet them in a public place,
and take a support person along with you. Avoid making
life-changing decisions based on your contact with
someone in this or any other Internet chat room. Appearances
are deceiving, and sometimes people participate in chat
who do not have the best motivations.
This independent site makes chat rooms available for
Survivors of Trauma and Abuse. Forums, Message boards
and/or news groups are available at The Wounded Healer
Journal. http://www.twhj.com.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT ANY INFORMATION
THAT IS DISCLOSED IN THESE AREAS BECOMES PUBLIC INFORMATION
AND YOU SHOULD EXERCISE CAUTION WHEN DECIDING TO DISCLOSE
YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION.
If
you have any questions or comments please email Healing
Journey.
