- To
become a channel op, an individual needs to
have participated in the chat room for at least
six months. Channel Ops will be appointed to a 2 year
term. After the first year there will be a review
of the previous year with an administrator and
both parties will decide whether to continue
with the second. After 2 years, 1 year of not
being an op is required to become eligible again.
Channel Ops will be selected 4 times per year (once
per quarter) so the turnover isn't happening
at one time.
|
- Channel
Ops are required to attend monthly meetings
on Sundays at 9:00 PM ET. If you cannot attend
a meeting, Carol needs to be notified prior
to that meeting at carol@twhj.net.
A minimum of 75% monthly attendance is required
to maintain Op status.
|
- Meetings
are held in #optopia. The room will have a password
that will be posted in the Optopia forum before
the meeting. That password will be changed at
9:01 preventing anybody else from entering the
meeting. It is important that you have respect
for your fellow Channel Ops and be at the meetings
on time. Meetings will end promptly at 10:00
PM ET.
|
- Channel Ops
meetings are confidential. Channel Ops are not permitted
to log the Channel Ops meetings nor pass on any information
to anyone concerning information discussed in
the meeting. Any violation of confidentiality
will result in immediate and permanent removal
from chat.
|
- Channel Ops
are required to have an IRC client (i.e. mIRC)
that allows them to do all of the required administrative
functions in the room ... /kill, /kline, etc.
Learning to use administrative functions will
be a part of the Channel Ops training.
|
- Channel Ops
must read, understand, and be willing to enforce
all the guidelines of the chat room in a friendly
yet firm manner with all chatters.
|
- Channel Ops
will op themselves when they come into the room
until the required 1 op for 5 chatters is fulfilled.
|
- Channel Ops
will keep conversations going in the main room
by encouraging people to talk, starting conversations,
and discouraging private messages as a sole
means of support.
|
- Channel Ops
will facilitate special chats to be held at
least once per year.
|
- Channel Ops
are required to attend training sessions upon
acceptance of the position before they can get
their password or be an op in the chat room.
|
- Channel
Ops training will be held as needed. Anybody
can attend the Channel Ops training. Participants
need to request the password for the training
room by emailing carol@twhj.net
at least 1 week prior to the training.
|
- Channel
op selections will be made by chat room administrators
and channel ops.
|
-
Channel Ops will need to register for the TWHJ
Forums if they're not already a member. Once
you have your TWHJ account you will be given
access to the Optopia forum.
